Building a Big Data platform for the corporation

Starting point

  • To be able to offer and implement Big Data projects within the group in a professional service environment, a Big Data Service and Operations platform should be created for two components: IBM SPSS and Hadoop 2.1
  • Establishing a technical and organisational foundation for the successful go-live of Big Data projects. Ensuring platform readiness for onboarding

Procedure

  • Agile project approach with 6 development iterations and 2 test sprints
  • Creating a product backlog with user stories for:
    • Governance
    • Architecture
    • Application Management
    • Technical Installation
    • Technical Operations
  • Quality assurance, risk management, and stakeholder involvement through regular reviews/retrospectives

  • Documented procedures and instructions for the business lines and IT service employees
  • Company-wide transparency and stability through central service transition, service operation, and processes
  • Creating the conceptual foundation for the billing of Big Data services
