Selection of a BI solution for near-realtime analytics in production
Starting point
- Optimising the manufacturing plant requires the use of sensor measurement data from the production process in real time.
- Departments should be able to independently perform data analyses, i.e., without relying on specialized data scientists.
- Continuous real-time analytics and visualizations of production data are needed for employees in the manufacturing process.
Procedure
- Recording of functional and non-functional requirements in an evaluation matrix
- Assessment of approximately 25 products and solutions based on the criteria catalogue and creation of a shortlist
- Detailed analysis of three shortlisted solutions and evaluation with regard to the specific use case on the production line
- Assessment of the solution in terms of an IT operating model
- Cost evaluation of the solution
Features/Project outcome
- Creation of a comprehensive evaluation matrix for functional and non-functional requirements
Implementation of a broad market screening of current products and solutions for near-realtime data analysis and visualisation
Solution recommendation for productive use of the solution in the department
Customer benefits
- Quality improvement in manufacturing through optimisation of plant control
- Increased productivity and cost reduction by minimising scrap and rework efforts
- Improvement of the continuous improvement process (CIP) through immediate feedback between production and quality analysis
- Empowering departments to perform analyses across different KPIs and global plants or locations
