What is the AWS European Sovereign Cloud (ESC)?
The AWS European Sovereign Cloud will be launched in Brandenburg (Germany) by the end of 2025. It will be operated by a dedicated European AWS subsidiary whose headquarters, leadership, and workforce are entirely based within the EU.
This cloud environment is physically and operationally separated from other AWS regions. All customer data and metadata will remain strictly within the EU, and all access and operational services will be provided exclusively by AWS employees residing in the EU – fully aligned with European data protection and security regulations.
