Functions and management
As a hosted solution, Tableau Online offers the same range of functions as the on-premise Tableau Server version.
Only the management of the hardware and software, the import of new software versions as well as the monitoring and adjustment of the system performance is handled by the Tableau Server. This allows you to connect to cloud databases, such as Amazon Redshift and Google BigQuery.
Your data is automatically updated via web applications such as Google Analytics or Salesforce. Live queries of your local databases or updates of extracts with Tableau Bridge are possible at any time. Site administrators can also easily manage authentication and permissions for users, content and data with Tableau Online.
At the same time, the Tableau Online infrastructure meets all requirements regarding data protection, such as GDPR.
